With so much to see and die as a result of, I still feel like naked link I’m only scratching the surface of this monstrously sized expedition into the desert. But, despite the sizable journey ahead, one thing is for sure – I’m thoroughly enjoying the grind. Rory is a Senior Entertainment Editor at Tom’s Guide based in the UK.
Date Everything players can use Candy to repair their relationships with hateful Dateables. These SNES games are just as fun to play today as they were when they released. Boosting at the start line is a staple of the Mario Kart series, and with 24-players, it’s more crucial than ever before in Mario Kart World. Certain enemies need to be staggered before you can beat on them, so you’ll have to use abilities like confusing them with a cape swing, or flipping over them with a forward flick of the right stick and punching them from behind.
He covers a wide range of topics but with a particular focus on gaming and streaming. When he’s not reviewing the latest games, searching for hidden gems on Netflix, or writing hot takes on new gaming hardware, TV shows and movies, he can be found attending music festivals and getting far too emotionally invested in his favorite football team. Now, stick with me, I know that sounds silly because that’s just normal soccer, but Rematch takes plenty of aspects from the popular online car-based sports game. The arena is entirely enclosed, so you can bounce the ball off just about every surface, and while you can’t sprint up vertical walls à la Rocket League, you can perform acrobatic actions that put a circus performer to shame. By that point, developer Uvula will have already worked its magic on you.

Though it struggles to pace itself evenly due to a short run-time, To a T is a remarkable, life-affirming wonder. Perfectly un-perfect and proud of it, this is a flag waved high for oddballs – and likely to be one of 2025’s most memorable games. To a T is weird to its bones, and it’s clear Uvula takes great pride in that. The whole thing is nebulous by design, and isn’t so much a grand gesture of positivity as it is an ode to the little quirks you love almost without realizing. I love, for instance, the way Teen’s umbrella is slightly wider than his mother’s to account for being held at arm’s reach. That might not sound like the sort of profundity a recommendation could hinge upon, but if you like rain for the same reason I do – the warmth and contentment it brings when you’re on the inside looking out – then perhaps you’ll get it. “The Switch 2 gives us exactly what we wanted,” Ben writes in his review. “A more powerful Switch that delivers a handheld-console experience like only… On the whole it’s a very well done Batman story, and the dialogue is generally strong except for a few very on-the-nose lines where Batman bluntly declares “I will find the Rat King; I will stop his night of wrath! ” or when Barbara Gordon acts like an annoying tween fangirl. There’s also a very conspicuous loose end left dangling at the end of the story that concerned me until I was told it’s intentional, so we’ll just have to see where that goes.
2024 was a good year for popular game series making big returns. Tekken 8 kicked off the year — literally — with its newest installment, which we called an “incredible evolution for the series” thanks to some interesting changes made to the classic 3D fighter that breathes new life into the classic combat. Arrowhead Game Studios’ fun and hilarious shooter was the big breakout hit of the year, quickly enlisting millions of new recruits for its galactic space war. Even though it stumbled with some recent updates, it remains a massively popular game and PlayStation’s big live-service win of the year.
Packed with new tracks and modes, it’s another Mario Kart you’ll want to own. Gorgeous, fast-paced and exhilarating, we’ve had a fantastic time playing through this Lost in Random roguelike spin-off. Captain Blood may seem like a nice throwback to hack and slash games of the past, but it really feels like an outdated experience in 2025. While there’s a lot to love about Sifu developer Sloclap’s new multiplayer soccer game Rematch, it scores a few own goals.
There are classes and backgrounds to choose from, but all skill trees—fighter, ranger, wizard, and godlike—are available to all classes, and I ended up with a fully blended build without feeling disadvantaged for not specialising. I can’t change the gear used by my companions, but they steadily accrue special attacks I can trigger at any time. My crew is pretty good at using these specials themselves, but they’re close to useless when it comes to moment-to-moment combat, except when I revisit areas I’m way overpowered for. Bigger than it first appears, Avowed is an engrossing and gorgeous action-RPG set in one of the most engaging fantasy worlds going, though it lacks the complex systems of its most beloved contemporaries. We get some hands-on time with Borderlands 4 and find Gearbox has revitalised the looter-shooter with fun new ideas that should please newcomers and veterans of the series. Updated
