Music is often a part of game’s that holds up to time the best, but in this case, it was mostly about providing higher-quality cleaner audio which can happen in modern game development thanks to the advancement of technology. Most players likely won’t notice as good audio should go unnoticed due to it feeling seamless, but this is an improvement for the better in the remake which makes the game feel a bit more modern in 2020 and beyond. All of this is true for Bluepoint’s remake, which largely stays true to the spirit of the original Demon’s Souls, both for better and for worse.
In the process, it also manages to get everyone excited about the potential of next-gen console gaming. It’s the best next-gen launch game and a damn good entry into the Soulslike genre. The PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls is, in the ways that matter most, the best version of the game, but that still leaves us with the question of why you should care about Demon’s Souls in the first place.
